Book Cover

Our next assignment is to recreate a book cover for any book of our choosing.
I chose Carrie by Stephen King.
Its creepy and definately not my ususal style, which is precisely why I chose it.
I also watched the movie when I was 14 and was a little scared.
Yes, I will admit it!
Here is the book synopsis from stephenking.com:
The story of misfit high-school girl, Carrie White, who gradually discovers that she has telekinetic powers. Repressed by a domineering, ultra-religious mother and tormented by her peers at school, her efforts to fit in lead to a dramatic confrontation during the senior prom.
The "dramatic confrontation" means she gets pigs blood dumped on her and she goes crazy and kills everyone. She also destroys the town.
My idea was to take my beautiful friend Beth out to a location and shoot her as Carrie. I chose to take her to some railroad tracks in a forested area hoping for darkness and also because that is where Carrie dies.
Unfortunately it was sunny that day, so I am hoping to make the images darker/creepier in another way. I bought Beth a prom dress from the D.I. and made sure it could flow, be a dress from 1974, and ultimately be light in color so that it would contrast the dark atmosphere. I also bought fake blood and a tiara because Carrie gets named Prom Queen before her "gift" is given to her.
Here are some of our images from our little photo shoot:
